Bring It

LCOM's Scrap-ivor is underway!! Woohoo! Our team is the Paperpushers and we're ready to crush our competition (or cover them in glue and paper, haha!!).

I'm doing a retro layout as part of my team's challenge this week. It's well underway, but I can't show it yet...don't want to give the other team a head's up (because I'm sure they're all undercover stalking my blog, haha!).

Should be a fun competition. You know, if I don't get kicked out the first week...

So, I've decided to just never let Bridget look out her window at bedtime. The other night she saw the moon. All good. Looked at it a couple of times. Fun, educational. Well, that was followed by 3 nights of rain. No moon. The first night there was a lot of confusion and crying and looking for the moon. We finally calmed her down. Bedtime took a bit longer, but she finally went to sleep. Then tonight she saw a cat. Umm..we have cats, she can see them anytime. But no, she wanted to see that one cat again. "Where cat go?" Sigh. "He went home, to bed." " See him?" Repeat...followed by much crying. Then she wanted me to sing the 'girl' song? I had no idea what she was talking about. More crying. Thankfully Kevin saved me and knew that she wanted him to sing 'Don't take the girl'. Of course, how could I have not known? Bedtime is starting to wear me out...

Star Wars (Winchester Style)

The boys love playing Star Wars. Do they know what it is? No, not really. Everything that Riley knows about Star Wars he learned from a preschool friend who was practically a full fledged Jedi, haha! So, they play with what little they know. Last week they were playing and Kieran was being Toyota (i.e. Yoda). Kevin explained to him that Toyota was a car and that he really wanted to be Yoda. Instead Kieran was still Toyota, "the man one, not the car one." Riley made up his own character called, "the Boss of All!" The he said, "well, that's not really my name, that's just what people call me." Heehee, they crack me up!!

Yesterday I was going through a lot of my old stuff at my parents' place and we unearthed all kinds of Star Wars toys for the boys to play with (if you don't know me, I'm kind of a fan :) at least of the old school Star Wars). The boys had a blast! Now they have Star Wars, Micro Machines and Lego to play with at Grammie and Grampie's. I swear they ask everyday if they can go there!

I was digging through all my stuff because I'm doing a 'retro' challenge for LCOM's 'scrap-ivor' (a 10 week long survivor-like challenge...yes, we are SO cool. I'm sure Kevin is rolling his eyes reading this, but it really is fun!!). I was looking for old pictures and such. I found my sticker book and believe it or not, the scratch n' sniff stickers still smell! And I had ones with google eyes and sparkly ones. I don't think they make stickers like they used to :) Ah, the 80s! So, look forward to a funky, cool retro layout soon!

Hmm...do I have any new pictures...let's see. Oh, I took some cute ones at the playground last week...here's a few of the good ones!

Must run and get to work on that layout :) Don't want to be voted out the first week, heehee!

Bridget's TWO!!

Yup, she's two and I think those terrible two's will be hitting soon. She likes to just scream at me sometimes for no apparent reason. No idea where she would learn to scream like that in a house with two perfectly behaved, calm boys...ha!

So, here are a few pics from her party. It was low key (well, as low key as it gets with 8 kids 6 and under....but that's just the cousins and that's how we roll pretty much all the time :)).

Here's her butterfly cake. Hands down the easiest cake I've done. No standing up pieces to come crashing down and have me cursing. Only two colours of frosting. So stress free. And the boys had fun helping me sort (and sample) the candy.

Here's the pony that Daddy bought for her on her b-day when they went to the store for groceries. She loves him...he's napping with her now :)

Playing outside before supper.

Cake!!!

I also made a sweet little banner for her birthday (and Riley did one too :)) but I still have to take some decent pictures of them.

Her personality is so cute and totally showing through now! She is sweet and sometimes saucy. The other day she was saying something and Kevin said, "What Bridget?" and she yelled, "I'm talking to Kieran!!!" And one day she wasn't going to sleep for her nap and when I went in she said, "I'm so sick of this!" Haha. I'm sure she never hears anyone say that... :)

Ok, so that was a Bridget heavy post :) I promise I'll be back next time with some cute boy stories. Riley said something really funny the other day but it's slipped my mind right now. Should really write those things down when they happen! Enjoy your Wednesday!

My boys are funny...

Riley: So, tonight at supper Riley was telling Grampy W. all about The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (I'm reading it to him and he loves it!). He was telling him all about the White Witch and how she makes it always winter and never Christmas (and how that's a strange thing). Then when Aslan comes and the spell starts to break Santa shows up but they don't call him just Santa, they call him Santa Daddy. I said, "I think you mean Father Christmas..." heehee!

Kieran: Marg (Grampy's wife) was complimenting Kieran on his glasses. She asked him if they were the same as hers. He said, "no, mine are rectangles and yours are circltangles." (or ovals to you and me :)).

Made you smile! Good night :)

It starts....

The making of the birthday cakes for 2010. I think I'll bake some of the cakes for Bridget's party today. I know it's not until Saturday but I like to get a head start. I'll probably put them in the freezer until it's time to decorate. I'll have to go to the Bulk Barn for candy to decorate tomorrow too. Such a chore...a store full of candy. Dangerous place for a busy mom with a sweet tooth!

Kieran is still talking about the Sea Dogs game we went to on Sunday. Guess he had fun :) And tomorrow we're going to see Franklin, which he's also pretty excited about. I got the tickets before Christmas but didn't tell him until a couple of weeks ago (which was still too early since I've heard, "How many more days?" since then).

Riley brought home a sentence book from school yesterday. So cute to see all of his little sentences. My favourite was, "I like my Mom." :) He is growing so fast! The clothes he is wearing today are too small...I told him one more time and that was it! Hard to believe, they don't seem that old. He's definitely a big school boy now!

I finished this layout last night for the Treasured Scrapbooking 'We Love Our Members' contest. Got it done just in time :)

I took that picture at night (ok, ok, Kevin took it for me :)). I tried to play with the colours to get them right, but I think they're still a bit off. Anyway, there it is. I've been meaning to scrap that picture for awhile...so cute :)

While we were in the playroom taking the picture of the layout I spotted this.

Yup, that's a pretty pink stroller full of tools. Guess that's what happens when you have 2 big brothers, you play with babies and tools! She totally filled it herself too :)

End of March Break already?!

I must admit that having 3 kids home all day is a lot more work than 2, but it's also so nice to all be together. Kevin took Thursday and Friday off and we've been having fun hanging out together. I think the kids have had a fun time...we've had playdates, gone to the zoo and the movies and today we're going to the playground and to the Sea Dogs game! Fun, fun, fun! I think I'm going to need a vacation after this week is done!

Bridget will be 2 in 6 days! Eeek! I can't believe it and at the same time it's hard to believe she's not turning three. She's so grown up and smart. Guess the 3rd kid just soaks everything up. But part of her still seems so much like a baby. At this point both boys would have been in their big boy beds for awhile and she's still in her crib. I still rock her to sleep some nights, which is frustrating, but kinda nice all at the same time :) We're doing a butterfly cake and I think I'm going to make it purple...I've never had the chance to do purple icing before, heehee.

Kieran is already telling me who he wants to invite to his party and what kind of cake he wants. He wants a 'flying Superman' cake. Hmm...not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off!! I'll have to get Grampie to help since he feeds his Superman addiction :)

I know you are all dying to see some cute pictures of my kids so here you go! Here are the kids playing in their Superman tents. Uncle Adam will be happy so see they are still getting use out of it, no matter how many times the cats have climbed it!

And here are those layouts I've been meaning to take pictures of for so long. I did these at a crop about a month ago!

Ok, now I must try to get something productive done (I should do mountains of laundry folding but I might clean my scraproom instead :)) before we head to the playground. Have a great day! The sun is shining here, hope it's shining on you too!

I did it!

I finished my application for Lily Bee and sent it in!! Scary stuff! This is my first time applying for a manufacturer so my hopes aren't super high, but you gotta put yourself out there sometimes, ya know? So, wanna see the second layout I did? I'm really pleased with both of my layouts so even if I don't get picked I know I gave it my best shot.

Our wedding pictures were taken by Cynthia Page. She does some really, really fantastic work! You can check her out here.

Not much else on the go today. Still need to photograph those other layouts. I was so busy working on my application that I didn't do it. It's the first day of March Break and I'm surviving so far. Not used to having all 3 at home anymore. It's a snowy, yucky day and I'm glad I don't have to go outside!

Treasured Scrapbooking is holding it's We Love Our Members contest again. It starts today so head on over and check it out. This contest is so much fun and there's so much inspiration to be found. It'll really push you to your creative limit!

Kieran started wearing a patch over his good eye on Saturday in and effort to strengthen his weak eye. I didn't know how he would be with it, but he's been super good about wearing it (even reminded us yesterday that it was time to put it on). He only wears it for 4 hours a day for 2 months then we go and reevaluate with the optometrist. It was so funny when we took it off him the first day...he said, "I can see myself again!" Hahaha!

Well, I'm sure I must have some cleaning to do. My scraproom is a disaster maybe I'll tackle that. It's almost like fun cleaning...discovering all the fun things I've forgotten about (i.e. that have been completely buried with other stuff!).
