A story, a LO and a looong night

Ok, so I haven't taken pictures of Riley's book yet, but I'll write the story here. It's not as funny without the pictures, but it takes so long to upload/edit/blog that I procrastinate. I thought that you would all find the story itself funny though, so here it is:

Dog Wanted to Watch a Movie
By Riley and Mommy

There once was a dog named google eyes (in case you were wondering it's because he likes to make things with google eyes, not because he has google eyes himself).  He called his friends to go to the movie theatre.  But then it snowed and they could not go because the roads were covered (we wrote this the day of the snowstorm :)).

When the raods were plowed they were able to go to the movie.  Google eyes said, "Let's go out to the movie theatre, friends."  All the friends listened to the puppy and they did go out with him.

Then they were there and then they got some popcorn.  Then they opened their bags and ate their popcorn and watched the movie.  They all sat quietly and didn't make a sound because they knew someone would put them in time out.  The puppies saw the movie was about a train.  And the puppies all had fun.

The End.

Heehee...I still laugh when I read it :)

Ok, so after putting it off and putting it off, I finally got my third LO done for the contest over at Treasured Scrapbooking.  We had to use part of the lyrics from the song Moonlight Serenade. We also had to use product on our LO that was at least 6 months old.  I have scrapped this picture before, but it's so cute I didn't mind scrapping it again :).

And here's a detail shot of the beading.  it took awhile but I really love how it looks!

There's also a cyber crop going on at Paws this weekend.  I haven't done any of the challenges yet, but there are some really fun ones.  You never know, I might get a chance to do one sometime.  Hey, if my baby stays up all night every night then I should be able to get more done, right?

Yup, B was up A LOT last night.  You might know on a night that I go out with the girls she's up 4 times between 12:30 and 5:30. Riley was also up twice.  Once at 3:30 asking if it was time to get up.  Yikes! I pray they sleep better tonight!!

Will it EVER stop snowing?

Seriously? I'm totally ready for spring!! Looking out my window now, it's snowing again. I mean, sure, it's pretty, but I actually have to drag my kids out in it today to take Riley to preschool.

Speaking of kids...I have two sick kids on antibiotics. Kieran and Bridget both are sick and have ear infections. It has been a very whiney, sleepless couple of days. I'm glad it's Friday! I have a feeling that B's antibiotics aren't exactly agreeing with her :( But then again, neither was the infection. Sigh.

I have a couple of LOs to share:

Another 6x12 LO from the winter sketchfest over at Paws. I should have a cute little brothers album when I'm finishe :)

A LO for a contest over at Paws. I'm glad they had it because I've been wanting to scrap this pic of Kevin and I from before we got married. It's been in a frame long enough I think :)

And one more pic...I just love this one of Kieran from our finger painting adventure the other day. It actually turns out that my kids would rather use paint brushes, heehee. I'm NOT complaining about that one!

I also have to share a book that Riley and I wrote and illustrated yesterday. It's pretty cute. He may be and author someday but I wouldn't expect much in the illustrating side. Maybe Kieran or Bridget will be the artist :) I want to take some pics of the book before I post...it's just not the same without them!

Have a great Friday! Let's all think thoughts of spring!!!

Ok, so tomorrow = 3 days later

Ok, here is the scrappy goodness I promised. I'm in a contest over at Treasured Scrapbooking. The challenges are really fun and, well, challenging, lol! The first of four challenges was to use the title, "Life is like a box of chocolates..." Here's my LO for that challenge:

I had a lot of fun with this LO. I did some beading for the first time and I just love the look. I will definitely be doing more in the near future!

The second challenge was to go to teleflora.com and pick which kind of girl you are. They have women broken down into different categories to make it easy for guys to pick which kind of flowers to send, heehee. There are several categories, but I picked the 'girl next door' (Kevin says that's who I am though he had no way of backing that up other than I'm not any of the other girls :)). It took me longer to do this LO, but I was definitely pleased with the outcome again. I used a couple of circles which I usually tend to shy away from. I love the bright fun colours!

I'm still thinking on the third challenge...I'll keep you posted :)

Sketchfest continues over at Paws as well. I've been having a hard time keeping up, but here is the sketch that I posted for last weeks Wednesday night sketch challenge:

The LO that I based this sketch on was done awhile ago. I had good intentions of doing a new LO, but never got around to it :( Here's the original LO:

And finally, I actually managed to start AND finish a LO in one day!! Unheard of for me, heehee. I did this LO yesterday for Monday's sketch challenge for winter sketchfest at Paws. I think this is one of my new faves, mostly because I love the picture! There was an added challenge that went along with it to recycle something on your LO, so I used some packaging from some Prima crystals and some from MM letters.

Thanks for checking out my work! I promise the family that next time there will be more kid info and less scrappy stuff, haha! For now, they're just sick and cranky, that's all the update I have! Oh, the boys got haircuts too so now they're all buzzed and cute. I think it makes R look a lot younger...almost innocent (hahahahaha!!!).

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yikes, long time no blog! Seems like life has been extra busy lately with sick kids and Kevin throwing his back out (which has slowed down our kitchen reno a bit). I thought the cold was gone, but it's back. Kieran has a horrible cough and Bridget has a fever. Riley seems ok so far, but who knows what's coming. The only good thing about all of this is that they like extra snuggles when they're sick (esp. B) so I got my fill today.

Kevin is out now trying to get us some Thai food. We tried calling to order it and couldn't even get through. So, it will either be Thai food or Subway, lol! He's getting a movie too, which will also be a surprise. Could be an interesting evening.

What blog post would be complete without some cute kid pics??

Briget's first ice cream cone :)

The boys always want me to take pics of all three of them :)

Downside to a broken dishwasher...buying a new dishwasher (obviously). Upside to buying a new dishwasher...a big box for the kids to play in!

Nothing I like better than sweet baby feet!

I have some scrappy stuff to post too but Kevin just got home with Thai and Narnia, yay! Looks like it's going to be a good night after all! :)

Happy Groundhog Day!

Looks like 6 more weeks of winter...blah! I would be happy to see spring right about now.

We've been doing some renovations to the kitchen. But between work and kids sleeping, Kevin doesn't get a whole lot of time to do it. He's managed to take down our ugly fluorescent box light, paint the ceiling and put up a new light. He took off the wainscoting and is now crackfilling the wall. Then we'll paint and rip up the flooring and replace it with vinyl plank flooring. It's going to take awhile but at least things are getting done. Oh, and to top off the fun, our dishwasher broke last week and it won't be fixed until Wednesday. So I've been doing dishes in the chaos :)

ZAP!! Heehee, just kidding. No Dads were harmed in the documenting of our kitchen reno...yet.

After :)

The kids are all doing well, though Bridget has started crying if I put her down to bed awake. She never used to do that :( She is getting some more teeth and has been sick, so I'm hoping to reprogram her and get her back on track! Kieran is also fighting a cold. I think he's doing better today. Riley is Riley, cute, crazy and funny. I forgot to tell a cute story last time so I'll tell it today for those of you who look forward to the "Riley stories".

The weekend before last we went to a b-day party. Kevin had picked up a few small gifts. While at the store he saw a toy at the store that was a remote controlled mouse that you could put a marker in so that when you drove it around it would draw. So, he tells us about this cool toy at the supper table. Well, I swear it was 15 or 20 minutes later and Riley, being Riley is still at the table eating (Kieran long since gone!) and he says, "mouse, remote, marker" (I may have the words wrong, but it was something like that). He says them to me like they're out of thin air. I worried he was having a seizure or something...no other words, just mouse? (pause) remote? (pause) marker? (or maybe it was draw...either way). I said, "Riley, what are you talking about?" and Kevin pipes in from the kitchen, "He's talking about that toy I told you about." It was like it had JUST registered in his little brain 20 minutes after the fact. He really is Daddy's little boy!! I swear Kevin does the same thing. Sometimes when I'm talking to him he'll say, "what?" without even really listening. I don't bother repeating myself because I know that sooner or later it will sink in!

Some cute kid pics :)

Winter Sketchfest fun continues over at Paws. I must say, at least it has me getting some LOs done :) Every Friday there is a 6x12 sketch posted so I'm doing a cute little brothers album. Plus I've gotten a few 12x12's done.

The next couple weren't sketches, but just for fun LOs :) I love the one of B with her tongue sticking out...it's a new fave of mine. The quilt one is one of my Nana with the journaling being all things that remind me of her. I worked on this one for quite awhile since all the stitching was done by hand!

For my DT work at Paws for January I received a Cosmo Cricket mini blackboard album and have decided to make a mini of all the kids cakes that I have made for their birthdays. I wasn't super happy with the prints I got so I've only done one cake so far :)

One last scrappy thing and then I'm done :) This month I am a Guest Designer at ScrapLovers. I get to issue a couple of challenges and design four projects with the kit I will receive. I'm really looking forward to working with their talented Design Team! The first challenge I issued was to use your neglected punches. I used my quilt LO as an example since I punched all the squares are punched. I also get to do a bonus challenge on the 15th so I'm putting my thinking cap on :)

Must get back to my laundry and dishes, sigh. At least supper is in the slow cooker :)

(ok, I just realized that the pictures are in backwards order...which only really matters for the cake album..but you get the idea :))
