Bridget's TWO!!

Yup, she's two and I think those terrible two's will be hitting soon. She likes to just scream at me sometimes for no apparent reason. No idea where she would learn to scream like that in a house with two perfectly behaved, calm boys...ha!

So, here are a few pics from her party. It was low key (well, as low key as it gets with 8 kids 6 and under....but that's just the cousins and that's how we roll pretty much all the time :)).

Here's her butterfly cake. Hands down the easiest cake I've done. No standing up pieces to come crashing down and have me cursing. Only two colours of frosting. So stress free. And the boys had fun helping me sort (and sample) the candy.

Here's the pony that Daddy bought for her on her b-day when they went to the store for groceries. She loves him...he's napping with her now :)

Playing outside before supper.

Cake!!!

I also made a sweet little banner for her birthday (and Riley did one too :)) but I still have to take some decent pictures of them.

Her personality is so cute and totally showing through now! She is sweet and sometimes saucy. The other day she was saying something and Kevin said, "What Bridget?" and she yelled, "I'm talking to Kieran!!!" And one day she wasn't going to sleep for her nap and when I went in she said, "I'm so sick of this!" Haha. I'm sure she never hears anyone say that... :)

Ok, so that was a Bridget heavy post :) I promise I'll be back next time with some cute boy stories. Riley said something really funny the other day but it's slipped my mind right now. Should really write those things down when they happen! Enjoy your Wednesday!

My boys are funny...

Riley: So, tonight at supper Riley was telling Grampy W. all about The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (I'm reading it to him and he loves it!). He was telling him all about the White Witch and how she makes it always winter and never Christmas (and how that's a strange thing). Then when Aslan comes and the spell starts to break Santa shows up but they don't call him just Santa, they call him Santa Daddy. I said, "I think you mean Father Christmas..." heehee!

Kieran: Marg (Grampy's wife) was complimenting Kieran on his glasses. She asked him if they were the same as hers. He said, "no, mine are rectangles and yours are circltangles." (or ovals to you and me :)).

Made you smile! Good night :)

It starts....

The making of the birthday cakes for 2010. I think I'll bake some of the cakes for Bridget's party today. I know it's not until Saturday but I like to get a head start. I'll probably put them in the freezer until it's time to decorate. I'll have to go to the Bulk Barn for candy to decorate tomorrow too. Such a chore...a store full of candy. Dangerous place for a busy mom with a sweet tooth!

Kieran is still talking about the Sea Dogs game we went to on Sunday. Guess he had fun :) And tomorrow we're going to see Franklin, which he's also pretty excited about. I got the tickets before Christmas but didn't tell him until a couple of weeks ago (which was still too early since I've heard, "How many more days?" since then).

Riley brought home a sentence book from school yesterday. So cute to see all of his little sentences. My favourite was, "I like my Mom." :) He is growing so fast! The clothes he is wearing today are too small...I told him one more time and that was it! Hard to believe, they don't seem that old. He's definitely a big school boy now!

I finished this layout last night for the Treasured Scrapbooking 'We Love Our Members' contest. Got it done just in time :)

I took that picture at night (ok, ok, Kevin took it for me :)). I tried to play with the colours to get them right, but I think they're still a bit off. Anyway, there it is. I've been meaning to scrap that picture for awhile...so cute :)

While we were in the playroom taking the picture of the layout I spotted this.

Yup, that's a pretty pink stroller full of tools. Guess that's what happens when you have 2 big brothers, you play with babies and tools! She totally filled it herself too :)

End of March Break already?!

I must admit that having 3 kids home all day is a lot more work than 2, but it's also so nice to all be together. Kevin took Thursday and Friday off and we've been having fun hanging out together. I think the kids have had a fun time...we've had playdates, gone to the zoo and the movies and today we're going to the playground and to the Sea Dogs game! Fun, fun, fun! I think I'm going to need a vacation after this week is done!

Bridget will be 2 in 6 days! Eeek! I can't believe it and at the same time it's hard to believe she's not turning three. She's so grown up and smart. Guess the 3rd kid just soaks everything up. But part of her still seems so much like a baby. At this point both boys would have been in their big boy beds for awhile and she's still in her crib. I still rock her to sleep some nights, which is frustrating, but kinda nice all at the same time :) We're doing a butterfly cake and I think I'm going to make it purple...I've never had the chance to do purple icing before, heehee.

Kieran is already telling me who he wants to invite to his party and what kind of cake he wants. He wants a 'flying Superman' cake. Hmm...not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off!! I'll have to get Grampie to help since he feeds his Superman addiction :)

I know you are all dying to see some cute pictures of my kids so here you go! Here are the kids playing in their Superman tents. Uncle Adam will be happy so see they are still getting use out of it, no matter how many times the cats have climbed it!

And here are those layouts I've been meaning to take pictures of for so long. I did these at a crop about a month ago!

Ok, now I must try to get something productive done (I should do mountains of laundry folding but I might clean my scraproom instead :)) before we head to the playground. Have a great day! The sun is shining here, hope it's shining on you too!

I did it!

I finished my application for Lily Bee and sent it in!! Scary stuff! This is my first time applying for a manufacturer so my hopes aren't super high, but you gotta put yourself out there sometimes, ya know? So, wanna see the second layout I did? I'm really pleased with both of my layouts so even if I don't get picked I know I gave it my best shot.

Our wedding pictures were taken by Cynthia Page. She does some really, really fantastic work! You can check her out here.

Not much else on the go today. Still need to photograph those other layouts. I was so busy working on my application that I didn't do it. It's the first day of March Break and I'm surviving so far. Not used to having all 3 at home anymore. It's a snowy, yucky day and I'm glad I don't have to go outside!

Treasured Scrapbooking is holding it's We Love Our Members contest again. It starts today so head on over and check it out. This contest is so much fun and there's so much inspiration to be found. It'll really push you to your creative limit!

Kieran started wearing a patch over his good eye on Saturday in and effort to strengthen his weak eye. I didn't know how he would be with it, but he's been super good about wearing it (even reminded us yesterday that it was time to put it on). He only wears it for 4 hours a day for 2 months then we go and reevaluate with the optometrist. It was so funny when we took it off him the first day...he said, "I can see myself again!" Hahaha!

Well, I'm sure I must have some cleaning to do. My scraproom is a disaster maybe I'll tackle that. It's almost like fun cleaning...discovering all the fun things I've forgotten about (i.e. that have been completely buried with other stuff!).

So early!

My kids get up early. Bridget is usually up around 5:45-6 and the boys get up at 6:30 only because we got them a clock and make them stay there and be quiet til it hits that time. They're usually awake before that...around 6ish or so. So, here I am blogging while they watch Diego. We were trying to watch the rest of the movie Atlantis, but Mommy is having technical difficulties with the DVD player (give me a break, I haven't had any coffee yet!). On Demand is so much easier to work, lol!

This is my first blog post on my brand new laptop. It's so pretty and the keyboard is so nice (and clean!) to type on. It even has a left shift key (which my old laptop lost long ago to little fingers). I think we've finally got most things transferred over and soon my old laptop will be lost to linux (as is the case with all old computers in my house...we now have 5. I may convince Kevin to give one up someday. I can't say much since I have a room full of scrapbooking supplies. I could use the 'I'm preserving memories line, but that doesn't usually fly :)).

I still need to take pictures of my newest layouts! As soon as the sun comes up (waaahhhh, it's so early!!), I will do that and try to post later today.

I should have really posted this sooner, but there's an awesome cyber crop going on at LCOM to welcome the new Design Team! There are some really fantastic challenges and games and fabulous prizes to be won. The deadline for challenges to be completed is Thursday so there's still lots of time to play!

I'm going out on a limb and applying for the Lily Bee design team. They are a newer company and this is their first DT call. LCOM is apparently the first Canadian retailer to sell their stuff (Tanya knows a good thing when she sees it and never fails to get us the coolest stuff out there!). Some of the stuff I wanted to use for this call was sold out...it went fast! So, I have to work with what I have. Here is my first layout that I did for the call...still putting some finishing touches on my second:

Wish me luck!! I'm sure there's some pretty stiff competition, but it never hurts to try right? Any experience is good :)

Oh, I should mention too that I had a layout requested for Canadian Scrapbooker's Summer Edition. That makes a full year (ok, so it's only 4 issues, but still...) of being published with them. And it's still exciting. I have a take on the cover for the Spring issue that's out now....so exciting to be asked to try out for the cover even if I didn't get it. The layouts that they picked for the cover and all the takes are AMAZING so it was awesome to just be included in that group!

Now we're watching Dora...sigh. Guess we'll go for breakfast soon so I can make my much needed coffee. Kieran isn't happy to be watching Dora because she's a girl. He likes Diego because he's a boy. He's been very into the boys are awesome and girls stink thing lately. He's not even 4! And he doesn't get it from Riley...he's quite content to be watching anything really, haha! The other day Kieran told us that boys were smarter than girls. We tried to convince him that that wasn't really the case, but I don't think he's buying it! I think one of the girls at preschool told him that she didn't like boys so he's retaliating.

I can't believe that Bridget is going to be 2 soon! Time sure flies! Though she certainly seems grown up. She can do some of getting dressed herself, puts on her coat and boots, she used the word 'either' in a sentence the other day which kind of surprised me, she understands and says so much and has word sounds that she shouldn't necessarily have for years (she actually says 'thank you' with a 'th' sound rather than 'tank you'...I'm not even sure Riley had that sound that early and his language skills were always above average) It's crazy...makes her seem so old. We're working on colours...she has a mental block there, but they're almost there I think. I'm still going to call her a baby at least until her birthday...and probably for a year or so after, haha.

Ok, I think I can go get breakfast now! Have a great day, everyone!

Go, Canada, Go!!!

Are you watching the Olympics? We are and loving it! It's so nice to have something the whole family can watch and I love the cheers of the kids..."Go, Canada, Go!!!" They're totally into it! I could do without the dorky CTV hosts...blech. But all in all we're enjoying it. Big hockey game tonight. I'm so not into hockey, but it should be fun to watch even for me :)

Sorry to all my loyal fans (hahahahaha) for not posting in so long. There have been several times I've been going to and realized that I had nothing to say :) But, I've been slapped on the hand by several people. So here it is...me babbling on about nothing! I tried changing the blog around. I'm not happy with the header really...I like the picture but not the title colours. I got tired of playing with it though, so there it is! And the background is a V-day one, but I figure since I haven't blogged at all in January, that's all good. Plus, it matches the picture colours :)

I had dinner with some fun gals on Friday night (my sister-in-law and cousins-in-law...oh, and my lovely new niece who slept through a lot of it). It was so much fun to get out, have a glass of wine (and a very spicy, spicy meal....so good, but I think my mouth is still burning!) and lots of laughs. Thanks for the night out girls!!

Yesterday Kevin and I went to an auction. We didn't end up buying anything, but we saw the process (we'd never been to one before) and it was nice to be out together. The kids had fun at Grammie and Grampie's. Yesterday morning Kieran actually informed me that he was going to live there when he grows up. Heehee. He called Grammie to inform her. Then in the afternoon we went to the museum. There was a nice new interactive exhibit on meteorites which the kids really liked. Of course the big draw is always just playing in the playroom there (you know, cuz it's so much cooler than the 1000 toys they have here!). We had supper with the cousins which is always fun :) Wow, tonight we ordered pizza so I just realized I haven't cooked supper in a really long time, lol! Guess pork chops are on the menu for tomorrow.

Today was a relaxing day...went to church, made some cards (while B had a really long nap...nice!), did a bit of cleaning, watched some Olympics and ate pizza...perfect day to me!

Well, I must be off to watch the hockey game with Kevin and do some scrapping. I have yet to take pictures of my most recent layouts, but here's one I did for challenge on LCOM a few weeks ago. Keep in mind that the challenge was "playful" so I decided to use some bright colours. Very different for me, but I still kind of like it...it's fun!

Good night all, and happy reading to at least Jill, Kim, probably some Amys, and my parents and all of my other adoring fans who choose to remain anonymous, lol!
